Melinda Vásquez is a product of Poway Unified School District and a Sundevil. She attended Humboldt State University and Thomas Jefferson School of Law. As a lifelong resident of PQ, she has volunteered for multiple non-profit organizations starting with Voices for Children, Rancho Peñasquitos Planning Board, Rancho Peñasquitos Town Council, San Diego County Democratic Party member, and the GoTeam as a PQ Community Coordinator.
Professionally, Melinda has worked in the Real Estate Mortgage Industry as an Underwriter, Funder and Auditor for 13 years and recently started a Real Estate Law Firm. Watching the economic avalanche, known as the Great Recession, emphasizes the need to strike a balance with financial regulations and the autonomy of private institutions. Purchasing a home is one of the most significant decision in a person's life, yet most people do not receive sufficient information to make sound judgments. Yet, homebuyers carry the majority of the burden when there is an issue. This is why she decided to practice Real Estate Law.
Melinda has strong family values which drive her to support her parents, sister and her family. Maintaining strong family ties motivated her to move to Guadalajara, MX to connect with her father's family. Family is the gift that no one chooses but everyone should cherish.
The culmination of family values, multi-culture heritage, sprinkled with a challenging childhood has defined most of her life choices including political views. Coming from a diverse background enables Melinda to understand people from different vantage points and connect with people on multiple levels. Surviving past adversities has taught her tenacity. She is a candidate that understands her community needs and fights for them.
