Melinda Vásquez was raised in Rancho Peñasquitos as a Mt. Carmel Sundevil. She attended Humboldt State University and Thomas Jefferson School of Law. As a lifelong resident of PQ, she has volunteered for multiple non-profit organizations starting with Voices for Children, Rancho Peñasquitos Planning Board, Rancho Peñasquitos Town Council, San Diego County Democratic Party member, and the GoTeam as a PQ Community Coordinator.
Professionally, Melinda has worked in the Real Estate Mortgage Industry as an Underwriter, Funder and Auditor for 13 years and recently started a Real Estate Law Firm. The Great Recession emphasizes a need to strike a pivotal balance in financial regulations and the autonomy of private institutions. Purchasing a home is one of the most significant decision in a person's life, yet most people do not receive sufficient information or advice to make sound judgments. Yet, homebuyers carry the majority of the burden when the real estate market contracts. This is why she decided to practice Real Estate Law.
Melinda has strong family values which drive her to support her parents, sister and her family. Maintaining strong family ties motivated her to move to Guadalajara, MX to connect with her father's family. Family is the gift that no one chooses but everyone should cherish.
The culmination of family values, multi-culture heritage, sprinkled with a challenging childhood has defined most of Melinda's choices, including her political views. Surviving past adversities has taught her tenacity and compassion to connect with people from vantage points. She is a candidate that understands her community's needs and fights for them.
